Urban Sustainability Directors Network | Resilience Hub Series

The Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) partnered with Risking Joy Productions to transform the international conversation around resilience hubs at the United Nations COP-27 conference on climate change. Historically, resilience hubs have been thought of as centers exclusively developed for communities to take sanctuary in during a natural disaster (e.g. solar and battery storage in the event a hurricane knocks out the power grid). While this is certainly a function of a resilience hub, USDN knows these hubs can be so much more. USDN has been developing resilience hubs all over the United States in co-creation with historically excluded communities (e.g. Communities of Color, Queer Communities, Disabled Communities, and more). Their goal is to transform community centers already trusted by the community through federal investment, to serve the community’s day-to-day needs as well as their needs in times of disruption (e.g. food pantry, education for youth, health services, and more). Risking Joy Productions developed a video series highlighting a resilience hub in Cambridge, MA and one in Boyle Heights, L.A. The series has inspired governments and developers all over the country to think differently about how they co-create resilience in their communities. Watch Now.

REFERENCES

"We worked with Risking Joy Productions on a series of marketing videos highlighting our organization's community work and I couldn't recommend them enough! Their process is thorough, professional, and the most organized I've ever experienced with a production team. From the pre-production conceptual discussions to the post-production editing process, Jensen with Risking Joy was an absolutely JOY to work with! The final products were outstanding - some of the best we've had as an organization. It was truly a great experience and Jensen is an extremely talented storyteller."
